Katog Choling Tibetan Cultural Center in Lafayette, Louisiana was founded by Khentrul Lodrö Thaye Rinpoche in 2004 to provide a place for spiritual practice and Tibetan cultural activities. Based on the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism, the dharma center has weekly meditations on Bodhichitta and Heart Sutra. Daily meditations are held for the morning opening of the shrine.
Monthly events include Tara Day meditations, Shower of Blessing tsoks, and Tara dances. Classes are held regularly to study the dharma teachings of Khentrul Rinpoche. The Lafayette center serves as a hub for students of Vajrayana Buddhism in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, however anyone seeking a spiritual path is welcome.
Khentrul Rinpoche visits the center regularly to give teachings on mind training and meditation.
