THE MARDO TASHI CHÖLING SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
FOR MONKS AND RETREATANTS

All the monks at Mardi Tashi Chöling are supported financially by Khentrul Rinpoche, through general donations, and through pujas (ceremonies) which they are sponsored to practice. When necessary, the monks seek support from their families or through the traditional practice of begging for necessities. We now have the opportunity to sponsor monks and retreatants at Mardo Tashi Choling.

What is Sponsorship?
The merits of your gift go a long way. Sponsoring a child, monk or retreatant for just $1 a day is a wonderful way to help change the life of that person in need and bring hope to his or her future. Being a sponsor also gives you an opportunity to build an interdependent link with Katog monastery and Khentrul Rinpoche. Besides the immediate needs of food, clothes and lodging, your sponsorship will provide a child, monk or retreatant with basic educational tools, skills and values that they will carry with them throughout their lifetime.

How Does Shared Sponsorship Work?
You can choose which program you want your gift to support: children, monks or retreatants. When you make a donation, your contributions are pooled with that of other sponsors within the same sponsorship program. This method ensures that everyone will benefit equally. Be assured that your sponsorship will provide someone in need with nutritious food, lodging, warm clothes, education and health care – all within the context of their own cultural and social setting. So, even though you are donating a specific dollar amount to sponsor one person for a year, think of sponsorship in the broader terms of a “shared” sponsorship with all the other sponsors and that, together, you are sponsoring all the children at the school, and all the monks and retreatants at the monastery. The merits of your sponsorship will have lasting effects well beyond what any of us can possibly imagine and will ripple out into the community and the world. Through your pure motivation and kindness all beings will benefit.

How Do I Sign Up?
Your commitment of $365 (or $31 a month) sponsors a child, monk or retreatant for one full year. You can sign up as a sponsor today either online by credit card or by check. When your gift is received you will be sent an acknowledgement from Katog Choling confirming your participation in the sponsorship program.

An Opportunity for Generosity
The sponsorship program is a wonderful way to cultivate the practice of generosity. Through your kindness and financial support, the children of Katog Mardo Tashi Chöling School, and the monks and retreatants at the monastery in Tibet are provided with food, shelter, and educational opportunities that, for many, would be inaccessible or difficult for them to obtain otherwise.
